YOUR ROLE

This position will oversee the workplace relation steam and associated service functions which includes influencing and supporting organisational culture with a people centric focus, probation period, performance management framework and associated people practices, employee grievances and employee separations. The role will be accountable for the ongoing delivery of supportive, contemporary and culturally diverse Workplace Relations services and advice and the delivery of people centred projects related to the strategic goals of the organisation.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership

  • Actively contribute to the overall culture by adopting the organisations principles of People Centred Care and Leadership model, enabling positive contributions to enhance employee
  • engagement and job satisfaction within the section.

  • Lead, motivate, develop, and empower team members to deliver in accordance with the Service Area priorities and section area objectives, within a framework that drives accountability and achievement.
  • Ensure Unit leaders and the service team staff have a clear understanding of their responsibilities, and encourage open and honest, two‐way communication at all levels.
  • Assist with the review and assessment of service delivery within the Section Areas in order to identify new strategies, initiatives, and innovative courses of action to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement 

  • Cultivate and maintain collaborative relationships with all relevant stakeholders, in particular
  • operational leadership, to support the organisations people centric leadership model and section deliverables.
  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure compliant and effective delivery of section service deliverables.
  • Actively assist and implement any change agendas and continuous improvement as informed and required by the Service lead in order to facilitate ongoing stakeholder commitment to outcomes
  • Section Operations/Service 

  • Take a lead role in People & Culture (P&C) related people centred initiatives aligned to the strategic objectives of the organisation, workplace culture and any supporting adhoc processes and system infrastructure that enhances people centred practices.
  • Review and lead the implementation of a fit for purpose performance management framework incorporating process that supports the development of sound Workplace Relationships between employees and their leaders.
  • Develop training and a performance management program that ensures all employees are familiar with their job responsibilities, as well as relevant legal and safety requirements.
  • Undertake investigations and case management resolution of employee issues, concerns and conflicts, maintaining productive relationships with them as well as relevant stakeholders.
  • Maintain and continuously review and improve relevant Workplace Relations policies and procedures, with well‐designed documents and business instructions for record keeping purposes.
  • Ensure the team is operating within service level standards (SLS’s) and providing customer focused service within their established remit and capabilities.
  • Establish processes that provide for the collection of feedback, data analytics, assessment and review to enable continuous quality improvement in our people management and enhance capabilities of any supervisory positions.
  • People Management  

  • Foster and maintain a People Centred Care management culture ensuring all people management practices are adhered to in accordance with our leadership model, policy and process.
  • Maintain accountability and responsibility for:
  • recruitment of vacant positions in the section;
  • the performance management of direct reports in accordance with the position requirements and
  • organisational objectives;
  • the rostering/allocation of resources, timesheets and leave approval;
  • actively supporting relevant learning and development activities to enhance the service delivery of your team
  • Assist with the implementation of key transformative people related initiatives that are designed to guide the organisation into a space of contemporary and culturally safe practice whilst the organisation strives to realise strategies.
  • Work Health and Safety 

  • Lead by example and cultivate a work culture and environment that prioritises the wellbeing, health and safety of our staff people centred care and leadership framework.
  • Maintain Section team compliance and provide a safe working environment in accordance with, the organisations WH&S Management System and associated policies, procedures and plans ensuring you are fulfilling your duty of care in accordance with the legislative requirements.
  • Actively support the review and investigation of critical as well as non‐critical incidents and other hazards or risks identified in a timely manner.
  • Promote and support organisational work health and safety initiatives.
  • POSITION REQUIREMENTS

    ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor of Human Resource Management or equivalent qualification and experience.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ relevant experience in generalist or senior HR business partnering role.
  • Ability to supervise staff, multi‐task and effectively work in a multi‐disciplinary team in a diverse and complex work environment with proven experience in balancing competing priorities, and delegating tasks to deliver a positive outcome.
  • Demonstrated high level cross‐cultural, interpersonal and verbal communication skills with an ability to effectively liaise, engage and coordinate across an array of stakeholders (internal, traditional owners and external organisation) to build productive working relationships.
  • Sound written communication skills with the ability to prepare submissions, business communications and reporting.
  • Sound computer literacy skills in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software programs including payroll or HRIS systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and interest in, the lived experiences of Aboriginal people in the NT n.
  • A current NT drivers’ licence.
  • Ability to travel and work remotely 
  • DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS

  • Sound understanding of performance management systems.
  • Previous experience in supporting workplace culture reforms.
  • Facilitation/Coaching skills
