Position Overview
Reporting to the Program Case Manager, this role is focused on meeting the day-to-day program operations within the organisation whilst providing a key contact point within the program for supporting Youth Workers to develop and improve practice.
In this role within Praxis, you will work collegially with the Program Case Manager and Program Coordinator as you support and implement program structure and consistency.
You will be an effective, determined and creative leader that takes the opportunity to develop and support a residential program. This position requires strong administrative skills to ensure effective program planning occurs, supporting program structure and predictability for young people and Youth Workers.
Responsibilities
- Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of the house planner, routine and activity structures and provide timely feedback where appropriate.
- Ensure that a nurturing, homely, safe and comfortable environment is maintained for young people to reside.
- Implement and provide support to the team to implement care plans for young people, providing timely feedback where required.
- Support and manage young people’s behaviour from a trauma-informed perspective and in line with care plans.
- Ensure that the young people are provided healthy and nutritious menu options.
- Empower young people to make positive and informed life choices.
- Encourage and support young people in acknowledging barriers especially those that impact their wellbeing and safety.
- Work in partnership with key stakeholders and within the community to provide and deliver meaningful engagement opportunities for clients.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing with all Youth Workers, Program Case Manager, Program Co-ordinator, managers and stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
- Complete timely and accurate administrative duties including petty cash reconciliation, program documentation and incident reports in line with legislative and contractual requirements.
- Maintain high quality case files, case notes and information related to young people and the program as outlined by relevant case plan and policy.
- Communicate any client and/or stakeholder complaints and incidents promptly and in line with organisational requirements to the Program Case Manager.
- Participate in development and training as required, including engaging in reflective practice, debriefs with a focus on wellbeing and practice development.
- Participate in and contribute meaningfully to regular staff meetings and professional supervision.
- Follow all organisational policies and procedures, and abide by all external legislation, including, but not limited to Occupational Health and Safety, Child Protection Act QLD, Privacy and Confidentiality and adherence to the Praxis Code of Conduct.
- Support staff and program inductions for all new employees in residential programs
- Compile staff feedback and communicate performance issues to Program Case Manager
Other Duties
- Support additional programs in the absence of other Senior Youth Workers.
- Any other duties as directed or necessary as per program / service requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience within Non-Family-Based Care.
- Knowledge of Child Protection and out of home care.
- Demonstrated support of and direction to staff to achieve desired outcomes for young people
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Will be required to undergo probity checks, including criminal record checks, Working with Children Checks, NDIS Worker Clearance and any other relevant licensing requirements.
