BMT is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior/Principal Ports Engineer to be at the forefront of the dynamic world of offshore wind, coastal, and marine engineering. We have a strong pipeline of work in Australia and more broadly APAC including:

• Ports planning and logistics studies.
• Dredging planning, design, and approval.
• Marine structures assessment, design, and approvals.
• Metocean and environmental studies.
• Projects related to offshore wind including:
• construction port selection.
• port infrastructure upgrade planning.
• operation phase port selection.
• vessel selection and port selection for operation and maintenance phase.
• discreet event simulation of construction and maintenance activities.
• vessel design for operation and maintenance phase.

In this role you will be able to:

• Manage the successful delivery of various ports, offshore wind and coastal engineering projects in accordance with HSE and QA policies and procedures either individually, as part of a project delivery team, or by leading a project delivery team, depending on project complexity.

• Civil and structural engineering at concept and detailed levels with focus on design of maritime infrastructure such as quay wall structural systems, bulk terminals, intake and outfall structures, and rubble mound structures and sound knowledge of the application of Australian and international relevant design codes.

• Establish key relationships with Australian ports in relation to assisting clients in associated industries such as offshore wind, resources and aquaculture.

• Contribute to strategy formation and business development to position BMT as a leading supplier of marine related consulting services to the offshore wind and other industries in Australia.

• Preparation of proposals, fee estimates and schedules for consulting projects.

• Liaison with clients, potential and current, for the purposes of service delivery, networking, and business development.

• Provide technical leadership, mentoring and supervision for junior engineers and scientists.

Relevant Education, Experience, and Skills:

We are open to applicants from mid-career level (5 years experience) to senior (20+ years) and the role.

Essential:

• Bachelor's degree in relevant field of Engineering or Science.

• 5 years or more professional experience, A broad understanding of Port operation, environmental and commercial issues.

• Sound knowledge of geotechnical engineering.

• Developed project management skills coupled with commercial acumen and excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Conversant with structural design and modelling software such as STAAD, Revit/AutoCAD, Plaxis or similar.

• Experience in technical writing.

• A proven track record of managing projects and working as part of a team.

Desirable:

• Experience working within a consulting environment.

• Experienced in the preparation of proposals, fee estimates and schedules.

• Experienced in the whole project life cycle from site selection to environmental investigations, design development, permitting, construction and operation phases.

• Experience in technical and business leadership roles.

• Experience in offshore wind related projects.

• Most importantly - A passion for technical excellence and solving complex problems in the ports and offshore industries.
