Form of workOur client is looking for a skilled Server Administrator with experience in SQL querying to join their newly created team. As a successful candidate, you will play a critical role in managing and optimizing the server infrastructure, ensuring its reliability, scalability, and security. Additionally, you will leverage your expertise in SQL querying to support database operations.
Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain physical and virtual servers running Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Monitor server performance, resource utilization, and system logs to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Implement and maintain security measures, including access controls, firewalls, and antivirus software, to protect server infrastructure and data.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure compliance with security standards and vendor recommendations.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and group policies in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Plan and execute server migrations, hardware upgrades, and capacity planning initiatives to accommodate business growth and changing needs.
- Develop and maintain documentation for server configurations, processes, and procedures to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure consistency in system administration tasks.
- Collaborate with other IT teams and stakeholders to design and implement solutions that meet business requirements and align with IT strategy.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries and stored procedures for data retrieval, transformation, and analysis, ensuring efficient data processing and timely delivery of insights to stakeholders.
- Perform database administration tasks, including schema design, indexing, performance tuning, and database security management, to ensure the integrity and availability of critical business data.
- Document server configurations, processes, and procedures, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
About You
- Experience in server administration/engineering in an IT environment.
- Proficiency in SQL querying and database administration, with hands-on experience working with Microsoft SQL Server or similar relational database management systems to help support the DBA when needed.
- Proficiency in installing, configuring, and managing Windows Server and Linux operating systems.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and services (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V) and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure) is a plus.
- Knowledge of server hardware, storage systems, and backup solutions.
- Familiarity with security best practices and tools for server hardening, intrusion detection, and vulnerability management.
