If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as the Service Lead - Community Development at the City of Canning.
About the role
In this pivotal role, you will support the Manager of Community Development & Libraries by overseeing the Community Development functions of the business area. You will lead a dynamic team across various business units, including Community Capacity, Hillview Intercultural Community Centre, Youth Services, and Neighbourhood Activation. Your leadership will drive innovative and sustainable community outcomes, promoting inclusion, connection, and diversity.
In this role, you will undertake duties such as:
- Strategic Management - provide clear direction and strategic oversight to ensure the delivery of Community Development outcomes.
- Community Impact - Drive initiatives that build community capacity and cohesion, address complex social issues, and create lifelong learning opportunities.
- Expert Advice – prepare project briefs, reports and proposals and offer expert and operational advice to Management and the Executive Leadership team.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders – develop relationships both internally and externally to advance to strategic objectives in Community Development plans and frameworks.
- Leadership – foster a positive team culture and build team capabilities.
Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Community Development, Social Work, Anthropology or similar discipline
- Highly developed knowledge in Community Development and community service delivery
- Experience overseeing the operation of community facilities and services
- Sound project and people management skills to effectively lead teams and service delivery
- Highly developed interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal
