PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Under the direction of the Civil Manager operate, service all appropriate machinery required for road work contract and supervise the civil crew.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and organize weekly checks on both DIPL & Homelands Civil Crews.
- Coordinate and collect daily pre starts from operators.
- Supervise the full weekly machine service on all plant & equipment (graders, service trucks, vehicles, gensets).
- Supervise and must ensure all air cleaners are blown out, greased, check fluid level's & top up where required.
- Provide report any damage or maintenance in a timely manner (must be in detail, photos etc).
- Organise camp supplies, including bulk diesel and water for the Civil Crew.
- Coordinate all essential and minor maintenance (change out tyres, remove hydraulic hoses for repair, assist mechanics)
- Must ensure to report any road hazards (using Konect), pin drop locations, photos.
- Responsible in ensuring to sign post any hazards Camp inspections.
- Provide update report back to Civil Manager as required.
- Organise barge freight collection.
- Any other duties as directed by immediate supervisor, that are within your capabilities.

- Exercise WH&S responsibility, accountability, and authority as outlined in BAC WH&S policies and procedures.
- Consulting with staff to ensure the identification of workplace hazards. That all risks are assessed, and appropriate control measures implemented in accordance with safe work practices.
- Ensure staff understand and comply with BAC policies and legislative requirements.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
Essential:
- Must have two (2) or more work experience in a similar work environment.
- Hold an appropriate HC or MR licences and relevant tickets for plant operation of the equipment.
- Experience in operating machines in a road crew and civil environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the recording of all necessary and relevant job data and other information.
- Ability to lead and co-ordinate a Civil Works team to provide effective control within a small team and maximum level of output.
- Demonstrated good oral and written communication skills.
- The ability to interact with people from other cultures, together with an understanding of how cultures can vary in different locations.
- Police Clearance.
- Medical clearance / be fit & active for the position.
Desirable:
- Experienced in Caterpillar plant & equipment.
- Personal Commitment and results orientated.
- Experience living and working in remote communities.
- Experience and/or knowledge of Aboriginal culture and communities and how they operate.
- Health & safety commitment.
Remuneration:
Bawinanga is offering an attractive remuneration package to the right person.
- Base salary: $74,949.68 per annum.
- Plus 12 % superannuation.
- Six weeks Annual Leave.
- 17.5% Annual Leave loading.
- 10 days Personal Leave.
