We're looking for an Entry Level Shellfish Hatchery Technician to join our young team at our facility in Newhaven, Phillip Island. Located next to world class beaches and cafes, you’ll enjoy the coastal lifestyle living on a picturesque Island.
What we're looking for
The successful candidate will have loads of passion and enthusiasm for learning about aquaculture and a drive to get the best out of themselves everyday. They will have a very high attention to detail, pride in their work and enjoy the challenge of continuous workplace improvement.
No experience is required however the candidate should have an outstanding work ethic and desire to establish a career in aquaculture.
The position
The Shellfish Hatchery Technician is the ‘engine’ of SeaGen Aquaculture’s hatchery operations. They are responsible for undertaking daily duties that help keep the hatchery operating to the highest standard whilst maintaining the good health and welfare of our livestock.
Key duties include:
- husbandry of shellfish larvae and seaweed systems
- daily equipment and facility cleaning
- animal health checks
- shellfish grading
- water quality management
- data management
The position requires some ability to work flexible hours, including on weekends and out of normal business hours. You should be comfortable working indoors and outdoors and on your feet for most of the day.
You must have:
- A drivers license
- High attention to detail
- Able to work a minimum 38 hrs per week
- Able to work on weekends and out of hours if required
- Australian resident or have the right to work full time in Australia
Renumeration
An attractive salary above minimum award will be provided. Relocation assistance will be considered. We are looking for candidates who are available to make an immediate start.
