About the role
We are currently seeking Trainee Integrated Ratings to join our team. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to kickstart their career in the maritime industry. As a Trainee Integrated Rating, you will undergo comprehensive training to develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become an integral part of our crew.
You will be employed on a fixed-term basis for the period of the traineeship and will be required to work a roster of 6 weeks at sea and 2 weeks off while obtaining the qualifying sea time. Additionally, you will enrol in Maritime College to obtain a Certificate III in Maritime Operations.
Your duties as a Trainee IR will encompass a range of duties that include but are not limited to:
- Participation in various onboard activities, including cargo operations, navigation, lookout duties and vessel maintenance
- Collaborate closely with crew members to learn safety procedures relating to bunkering, emergency response, firefighting, confined spaces and shipboard oil pollution prevention
- Provide engine room assistance to the Engineering department with tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the vessel’s engines and machinery
- Ensure compliance with relevant maritime regulations
