Your role:
We have an opportunity for a Ship Manager to join our Ship Repair team based in Garden Island Defence Precinct. You will join our Maintenance Services team, which provides Maintenance Management Services for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN).
Responsibility will be to oversee the Maintenance Management Services for the assigned Ship, ensuring that all Maintenance (Preventative and Corrective) and incorporation of engineering changes is completed safely within the agreed schedule, cost and Commonwealth technical requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensures the Customer requests for the assigned ship are understood, qualified, prioritised, handed over to the appropriate teams and processed within Thales organisation. Ensures the request lifecycles are managed.
Liaison with the customer representatives to ensure Maintenance Period Work Packages achieve the required operational effectiveness and safety objectives for the ships next tasking.
Managing the Ship Maintenance Planning to ensure sufficient resources (labour, technical data, equipment and materials) are allocated to meet schedule requirements.
Manage development of the Ship Maintenance detailed Work Order schedules and Maintenance Period Work Package schedules, understanding the critical path activities and any potential problem areas.
Management of Urgent Defect (URDEF) rectification, including liaising with Customer representatives to define and agree the scope of URDEF taskings.
Review, analyse and act on variances in labour hours and material costs to ensure financial objectives achieved.
How About You?
Formal qualification in the area of Engineering, Project Management, suitable trade or engineering training and experience or extensive industry experience in related field
Demonstrated safety leadership at a complex industrial site
Some exposure to administration in an engineering / manufacturing environment
Strong communication and negotiation skills with internal and external customers
Experience in managing planning or execution of production work packages
Experience in Ship Building / Ship Repair or similar heavy engineering industry and/or civil engineering field
