Laboratory Technician
Part-time - short contract (Leave Cover)
- 13/05/24 - 31/05/24 (3 weeks)
- 26/08/24 - 20/09/24 (4 weeks)
This temporary position will work under the general supervision of the Head of Science and will be required to demonstrate:
- Control the storage, safe handling and usage of chemicals and associated materials within the framework of science education.
- Prepare chemical, electronic and other materials for class or individual student experimentation.
- Supervise the issue and return of chemicals, materials and equipment used in the classroom by teachers and students.
- Provide relevant technical advice in relation to experiments and science projects undertaken by students and supervise the same in conjunction with teaching staff.
- Undertake WH&S duties for the unit and provide advice to teaching staff on standards in laboratory procedure.
- Dispose of chemicals and equipment in accordance with State and Commonwealth legislation.
- Demonstrate various technical procedures to students and assist when required.
The Key Tasks of the Science laboratory Technician can be varied or changed by the Principal or Faculty Head of Science as circumstances require after proper consultation with the Laboratory Technician.
Salary will be in accordance with the Tasmanian Catholic Education Single Enterprise Agreement 2018.
