Our Maintenance and Industrial Services division specialises in the planning, management and execution of maintenance, shutdowns and sustaining capital works. Monadelphous has been a part of the Central Queensland community for 40 years, providing vital jobs to locals and those who consider Gladstone home.
We have a great FIFO & LOCAL opportunity for experienced Welding Inspectors to join our shutdown leadership team based in Gladstone, Central Queensland.
The role of Welding Inspector will see you play a vital role in an Alumina Refinery shutdown, specifically focusing on Digestion Units 1&2 and Units 3&4.
Pre-Shutdown:
Units 1&2: Monday, 15 April 2024 – Friday, 17 May 2024
Units 3&4: Monday, 22 July 2024 – Friday, 16 August 2024
Execution:
Units 1&2: Monday, 20 May 2024 (approx. 4 weeks)
Units 3&4: Monday, 19 August 2024 (approx. 4 weeks)
The successful applicants will be responsible for ensuring that all work is completed safely, on schedule and to client specifications. You will be monitoring adherence to the WPS, Welder Qualification parameters and performing visual inspections to international and customer specifications.

What you will bring
- Prior experience in a similar role working on shutdown environments, preferably within Alumina or similar continuous processing plants.
- Australian recognised Trade Certificate – Fabrication
- Welding Inspector Qualification – CSWIP 3.1 or IWIB
- Confined Space, Gas Test Atmosphere & Working Heights Training within 3 years.
- Confident and capable user of MS Office Suite
- Willingness to learn new systems and processes.
- Strong communication skills with all levels of the organisation.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A focus on providing outstanding customer service.
- Work cooperatively with others to accomplish project/site goals.
- A positive attitude and dedication to ongoing professional development
