About the role

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting for a Site Engineer- Nightshift with structures experience to form a key part of their viaducts team on our major public infrastructure project based south of the river in Perth, WA. The primary purpose of the position is to assist with the design process coordination, planning and programming requirements for assigned work packages within a designated area to ensure construction activities are delivered in accordance with client time, quality and scope requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the achievement of Laing O’Rourke’s safety targets through Mission Zero Next Gear with zero tolerance to unsafe work practices and occurrences.
  • Coordinate and administer construction engineering activities of the project to ensure that project plans are implemented in accordance with designs and specifications.
  • Interpret, review and improve existing designs for implementation in construction of the project.
  • Establish, implement and ensure compliance to the project’s procurement strategy.
  • Assist with preparation of site construction budgets and reports.
  • Produce work packs and scopes of work.
  • Ensure all other tasks and duties as directed by your Supervisor are completed.
  • Observe safe systems of work relevant to your work area and report potential hazards and environmental risks.

 Key Skills and Characteristic

  • Degree qualified in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience working as a Site Engineer on major public infrastructure construction projects in Australia.
  • A strong work ethic with a proactive, reliable and flexible approach to work.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a team.
  • Strong problem solving, organisational and communication skills.
  • A high attention to detail.
