Site Manager

Yakka Solutions are currently working with an established and reputable commercial construction company with a head office in East Brisbane to find a skilled and dedicated Site Manager. As the Site Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the site-based delivery of construction projects ranging from $5-$20m.

 The ideal candidate will hold a Medium Rise or Open Supervisor QBCC licence.

 Responsibilities:

• Construction Coordination and Supervision: Take overall responsibility for site-based construction supervision and coordination, including building set out. Your expertise will be instrumental in the efficient execution of projects
• Programme Management: Assume responsibility for programme management and the development of two-week look-ahead programmes. You will collaborate closely with the project manager to ensure seamless project progression
• Site-based Safety, Quality, and Environmental Compliance: Deliver projects safely and in accordance with industry-standard safety and environmental practices. Your commitment to safety and quality standards will create a secure and sustainable construction environment.
• Compliance: Ensure that construction works comply with current building regulations and construction documents, guaranteeing legal and regulatory adherence throughout the project
• Material Purchasing and Management: Effectively and efficiently manage material procurement for the project in consultation with the Project Manager. Your attention to detail will contribute to the successful completion of projects. (Assessment period: 12 months)

Additional Roles and Responsibilities:

• Coordinate subcontractors on-site to maintain efficient progress of work
• Communicate with the Project Manager to resolve worksite issues
• Ensure the safe and efficient set out of the construction site, including necessary amenities
• Manage the safe and efficient storage of materials, plant, and equipment on-site
• Liaise with clients and consultants to resolve relevant project issues
• Coordinate all sub-contractors and sub-contract works to ensure adherence to construction drawings
• Prepare and monitor construction programmes, ensuring subcontractors are aware of the schedule
• Purchase materials and goods in accordance with procurement procedures
• Ensure site health, safety, and environmental requirements are met through regular inspections and reporting
• Manage variations, including issuing site instructions to relevant parties
• Ensure building set-out aligns with drawings and specifications
• Maintain relevant site reports, registers, and documents
• Enforce building regulations, standards, and by-laws in all building operations

Requirements:

• Proven experience in a commercial construction site-based role
• Strong client service and interaction skills
• Excellent verbal and listening communication skills
• Ability to lead and manage a team effectively
• Exceptional time management abilities
• Competence in operating plant and equipment safely
• Track record of successfully assessing and resolving construction problems

Education and Certifications:

• Appropriate QBCC license (e.g. Supervisor License)
• Trade Course Certificate (relevant trade)
• Current Driver's License
• Construction Safety Induction (blue/white card)
• Fire Safety and Awareness (re-evaluated every 12 months)
• First Aid (re-evaluated every 3 years)
• Respirator "Fit Test" Compliance
• Working at Heights certification
• EWP License
