We are a dynamic local business specialising in Residential / Commercial Construction and Development. We currently have projects and clients in the Newcastle and Hunter regions.
We are seeking a fulltime experienced Construction Site Supervisor to work within our Projects Team based in Newcastle. The successful applicant must be able to demonstrate successful project delivery in a previous role.
Tasks and Responsibilities – Overview
- Oversee and deliver varying project and work types mostly including, but not limited to Internal Developments and Client Projects
- Conduct Site Supervision responsibilities for Developments and Projects as appropriated by the Site Manager or Senior Management
- Hands - on approach using relevant building / carpentry skills
- Coordinate and oversee trades / labourers / apprentices on site
- Coordinate subcontractors and suppliers to deliver labour, materials and services within set timeframes on work scopes/projects
- Conduct quality control inspections and internal work audits to ensure industry, WH&S and Australian Standard compliance by staff and subcontractors including Site Cleanliness and Safety
- Assist the Projects Team in scoping and tendering of work
- Set tasks, objectives and goals for direct reports to achieve with specified timeframes and expected outcomes
- Manage direct staff reports to achieve project milestones
- Create and maintain project and works schedules to deliver positive outcomes within set timeframes
- Review current processes, procedures and resources and make recommendations to Senior Management for improvements
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to undertake and complete assigned projects
- Undertake basic Human Resource functions such as recruitment, performance-management and coaching/mentoring
- Provide relevant training within capabilities to direct reports, including coaching and mentoring staff in their roles
- Think proactively to decipher and resolve project issues should they arise
- Take part in and share responsibility of Safety & Compliance tasks and duties
- Provide weekly reporting to Senior Management across a spectrum of areas
- Undertake and complete other important or adhoc tasks, projects or initiatives as set forward by the Site Manager or Senior Management
Skills and Experience:
- One or more of the below qualifications;-
- Trade Qualified / Certificate IV Carpentry or equivalent competency
- Bachelor of Construction Management
- Certificate IV in Building & Construction
- Hold relevant industry skills and experience
- Significant demonstrated experience in a Construction Supervision role with minimum 2 years Construction Supervision experience (Residential background desirable)
- Advanced ability to plan, manage and deliver a number of projects simultaneously through mostly subcontracted resources
- Proven experience in successful, timely and cost-effective project delivery
- Works cohesively in a team environment
- Self-motivated and results oriented
- Strong interpersonal, communication and time management skills
- KPI focused with an ability to work to set deadlines
- High level organisation skills, demonstrating solution-based thinking
- Working knowledge of Office 365 and strong technological competency
- Risk Management knowledge and experience
- Experience in adhering to relevant legislation, Australian Standards, WH&S, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor potential reports within the company, such as a Junior Site Supervisor / Contracts Administrator / trades / apprentices
