Skipper (Coxswain 1 / Master <24m)

We are seeking an competent Coxswain 1/Master ,24m for a Gold Coast/S.E. Qld based position in a Marine Civil Construction Company. 

We are looking for a team member who is happiest when working physically and thinking on their feet. Every day is different from salvages one day, to building revetment walls, demolishing jetties, rubbish and mangrove removal or assisting pool builders. 

It is usually a team of 2 (excavator operator and skipper) working together to complete projects. 

If this sort of variety appeals to you and your idea of a good day starts and ends with the sea breeze on your face and the accomplishment of using your hands to create something - then this career move might be right for you. 

We work in the canals and rivers of SE Qld providing maintenance services.

Projects can be can be as far away as Bribie Island (short term projects). 

Most work is Monday-Friday and occasional weekend shift offered  (salvages/transits/fireworks).

We are looking to fill one of our skipper positions immediately. 

There is a requirement to use your mobile phone to complete daily compliance documentation. So being comfortable with phone apps and being willing to learn these procedures is essential.

All our vehicles and vessels are smoke-free

Qualifications

• Coxswain/Master ,24m with at least 2years experience.
• HR/HC licence (preferred)
• Construction White Card (issued after 2009)
• First Aid (current).
• Secure (off street) parking capacity for Ute and tender.
• Smart phone with adequate data and be capable of using online apps.
• Physically fit with a willingness to get in and do what needs to be done.
• An excellent problem solver / trouble shooter.
• Australian TFN, fluent in English (written and spoken).
• Maintenance and servicing of vessel and tender are a part of the job…small business - no engineers here to do the hands on.
• Skippers with only white boat experience need not apply ( tourism/ private yachts…. not what we do. You will need to like to get your hands dirty here ) 

An Advantage :

• Excavator/Skid Steer tickets
• Experience with concreting, block laying and general building.
• Experience with chainsaws, quick cut saws, power tools.

Position: 

*Full time (based on a 50 hour/week)

Start Rate: 

Base: $39 (incl $4 industry allowances)

Overtime: $52.50

Double Time: $70

Hours:10-12h days (Summer)... project based work.

*casual employment during 3 month probation period.

++Includes a Ute to tow tender, Some weekend work required - but not regularly. 

++Position attracts holiday (20days/year) superannuation/public holiday pay/sick pay (80hours/year) 

Must live within 45min of Oxenford.
