ABOUT US:

McCall Services provides high quality and individually supportive services for people with a disability including, supported accommodation, short term accommodation, community participation and support coordination in a variety of settings across Northwest Sydney.

The School Leaver Employment Supports (SLES) program is an early intervention approach for Year 12 school leavers, designed to support their transition from school to employment.
You will help to provide meaningful, individualised capacity building activities so that our participants can achieve their employment goals. You will identify learning gaps in our participants, and use your initiative, and creative thinking to implement strategies to overcome these.

ABOUT YOUR ROLE:

Working one-on-one with young people you will provide assistance to help them achieve their employment goals; McCall Services prides ourselves on providing a service that delivers outcomes.
This role requires someone who is enthusiastic and passionate to help youth in our communities with disability, and who can think on their feet and adapt to changing circumstances. The ideal candidate will have an ability to maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including participants, family members, carers, community services and employers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Provide support and mentoring to participants that encourage a level of competence and independence with their employment and training goals.
  • Coordinate WH&S policies and practices to ensure equitable and inclusive practices.
  • Utilase communication and research skills to market and promote our program to relevant organizations, support teachers/coordinators, and stakeholders.
  • Provide support to participants on personal development as per individual support needs.
  • Provide leadership to staff to ensure the smooth integration of the SLES and community programs.
  • Generate and optimise appropriate work experience opportunities for participants.
  • Provide onsite and external support during work experiences to increase understanding of workplace expectations and behaviors.
  • Provide individualised participant planning and support to prepare for employment via identification of support requirements, facilitating skills development opportunities in the community and liaising with community members and participant networks.
  • Assist with the development of a suitable and effective SLES program, ensuring that the program's goals and criteria are achieved. This includes constant review, evaluation, and improvement of the program.

To be successful you will have a knack for networking and customer service with a dynamic, confident personality that will work within our local communities to facilitate the placement and ongoing employment of participants into work.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:

You will have experience with providing quality care services, implementing behavioural strategy supports and building rapport with our participants. You will ideally:

  • Have a passion to support people with a disability in an inclusive way which meets the individual needs of each customer at your service.
  • Have experience within disability, including experience dealing with behaviors of concern.
  • Be an effective communicator with proven experience in managing a diverse team in the community sector.
  • Be strategic in your thinking about how to improve your service and contribute to changes that positively affect your service.
  • Have the ability to adapt to various situations.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in a SLES / employment consultant role
    Experience in training and facilitation.
  • Experience in business, admin, hospitality and retail a bonus.
  • Comfortable delivering programs according to provided plans.
  • Interest to educate participants in increasing their capacity and employment readiness.
  • Solid problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work autonomously. 
  • Experience supporting participants with challenging behaviours demonstrated knowledge on how to implement a Behaviour Support Plans.
  • Knowledge and experience working with young people. 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team. 

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

  • Certificate IV in Disability and related training and/or qualifications
  • Experience in Social Welfare or relevant industry experience.
  • Valid NSW Working with Children's Check
  • Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Current FULL Drivers License
  • NDIS Worker Orientation Module
