Job description

About Us

Detector Inspector started in 2005 when our two founders, Jason and Jordan, recognised an opportunity to make a difference - we could help make homes safer for renters and make safety compliance easier for property managers.

At DI we share a passion for helping others, we take pride in our work and seek out opportunities to do things better. We’re passionate about training, providing career development opportunities and love solving problems to help us achieve our mission of making every home in Australia safer.

About the role

Due to our rapid growth, we are seeking a highly professional and presentable technician to join our field services team 2 days per week.  We are looking for a technician to test and service smoke detectors in residential properties. The successful applicant will work across Launceston and regional Tasmania so willingness to travel and a love of driving is a must!

The night before each workday, you will receive a schedule on your phone that will assist you in managing appointments for the next day. You will start your day from home to your first appointment, whilst utilising an app to record your process.

No two days will ever be the same! Each inspection can vary between 10-30 minutes to ensure a property is safe and compliant, whilst travel time between appointments can vary between 15-60 minutes.

Please be aware travel time to your first appointment can be up to 45-1 hour.

Key requirements

  • Have or obtain an ABN (Australian Business Number) and Public Liability Insurance
  • Driver’s licence and willingness to travel
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Present professionally, be well-spoken, and self-driven to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Be familiar with using modern technology such as tablets & applications

Please note: Safety comes first at Detector Inspector, as a pre-requisite candidates will be required to complete a National Police Clearance and a Pre-employment physical assessment.

Benefits

  • Work for yourself, out on the road away from a desk
  • Excellent earning potential (dependent on number of jobs completed per day)
  • No previous experience? No worries - undergo smoke technician accreditation with us
