About our Team
At the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) our dedicated based Social Workers provide compassionate support and treatment to children young people (from birth to 18 years) who are experiencing moderate to severe Mental Health challenges.
As Mental Health conditions can deeply impact the emotional and social well-being of children and their families, our holistic and child-centred approach is designed to assist families and focused on participation and engagement. We offer a comprehensive array of services and ongoing support including specialist counselling and crisis assistance, advocacy for patient needs, education, liaison with other services and referral to other community-based resources.
CAMHS believe that working together yields the best results. Our Social Workers work closely with a multi-disciplinary team of healthcare professionals to complete initial assessments, treatment and treatment planning and provide ongoing support. This includes psychiatrists, speech therapists, clinical psychologists, occupational therapists and clinical nurses.
CAMHS actively develop relationships with local schools and service providers. This collaborative approach enhances our understanding of Mental Health and the unique needs of our young patients and their families.
Position Profile and Role
We are seeking Social Workers to join our team and provide community based Mental Health assessment and multi-disciplinary intervention for children and young people.
You will play a vital role in helping young people establish practical and attainable goals, promoting the highest level of function in various aspects of their lives and improving overall wellbeing and supporting children, adolescents and their families to navigate challenges that can arise from complex and diverse needs and Mental Health concerns.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop your skills in a supportive learning environment. You will leverage the skills and knowledge of Senior Social Workers and other health professionals to provide a sound comprehensive service, encompassing assessment, treatment, advocacy, prevention, and collaboration within our community context.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting bio-psychosocial assessments and mental state assessments, considering social, emotional, and psychological well-being, to determine the unique needs of clients.
  • Providing social work interventions including Mental Health assessment, risk assessments and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to individuals, families and groups.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and needs within the community and the healthcare system.
  • Liaising with families, carers, health professionals, community agencies and others to coordinate care, intervention and discharge planning, report on client progress and outcomes, and initiate referrals.
Please note a tertiary qualification in Social Work and eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers is a requirement for this role.

We know location is important - access to services and convenient transport improve your daily experience of coming to work. The South Hub is made up of community bases in Peel, Rockingham and Fremantle.
  • Our newly renovated Rockingham clinic provide services to a diverse demographic. Our clinic is centrally located, conveniently close to the shopping centre and beach and accessible via public transport.
  • Mandurah was recently recognised as one of the world’s most attractive tourists’ locations and known for its network of beautiful waterways. Our clinic is co-located with other youth related services including Peel Youth Medical Service (PYMS), Youth Focus, Allambee Counselling and Palmerston (Drug & Alcohol Service). We have onsite free parking and public transport is very convenient with the train station across the road from our building.
