About the role:
This role is situated within the Social Work Department and Social Work Acute Oncology Stream. Social Workers based in the Oncology Stream receive referrals from a range of wards, Radiation Oncology, Palliative Care and Day Oncology Unit., As the Grade 2 Social Worker you will be responsible for providing clinical social work services to referred patients and families from these units. A regular day will see you undertake assessments, provide numerous social work interventions (including counselling) that support patient recovery and assist patients to discharge from hospital. You will be a member of the multi-disciplinary team planning care and attend case conferences. You will also be a member of the Social Work Department and have opportunities to undertake non clinical activities such as quality improvement work, training and supervision.
Key responsibilities will see you:
- Apply your social work knowledge and skills to assess, treat and plan the discharge of patients
- Provide counselling to patients and families
- Supervise grade 1 Social Workers
- Supervise and train social work students
- Participate in quality improvement, or research
You must have:
- A degree in Social Work
- Ideally have worked in a health related setting
- Ability to work and contribute to team culture and work within a multidisciplinary environment
