AddressWe have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Social Worker to join a supportive and dynamic team at the Mater Hospital- North Sydney.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
- 2-days per week Permanent Part Time Contract- 8-10 hours/week (opportunity for extended hours if desired and clinically indicated)
- Combination of Mon/Tues, Tues/Wed or Mon/Fri, workdays available
- 8am start time preferred, however there is some flexibility for the right candidate
- Areas of work include oncology, palliative care, renal, ICU, general medicine, cardiac, acute orthopaedics
- Role includes group-based work
- Supervision provided from Social Work Lead
- Ongoing Professional Development

ABOUT YOU:
The successful candidate will provide a social work service at a high level of clinical practice to inpatients and their carers of the Mater Hospital in the designated clinical areas. This is by way of:
- Participating as a member of multidisciplinary teams
- Carrying out the responsibilities of the position in a manner consistent with the philosophy, values and mission of Mary Aikenhead Ministries
- Ensuring a high level of social work practice is maintained consistent with professional standards as defined by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Committing to ongoing professional development and teaching through research, education and social work students
- Participating in strategic planning and quality improvement activities
- Participating in meetings of AASW Special Interest Groups and other groups of relevance to the delivery of a high-quality Social Work Service to patients at the Mater
- Degree in Social Work
- Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Demonstrate behaviours that reinforce the core values of The Mater
- Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding workload and prioritise where necessary
- Evidence of the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
- Computer literacy
- Commitment to quality improvement
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- Demonstrated experience/expertise in acute hospital care
- Ability to be flexible and dynamic with work hours
- Experience or interest in group work
