We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified Social Worker to join a supportive and dynamic team at the Mater Hospital- North Sydney.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
2-days per week Permanent Part Time Contract- 8-10 hours/week (opportunity for extended hours if desired and clinically indicated)
Combination of Mon/Tues, Tues/Wed or Mon/Fri, workdays available
8am start time preferred, however there is some flexibility for the right candidate
Areas of work include oncology, palliative care, renal, ICU, general medicine, cardiac, acute orthopaedics
Role includes group-based work
Supervision provided from Social Work Lead
Ongoing Professional Development

ABOUT YOU:
The successful candidate will provide a social work service at a high level of clinical practice to inpatients and their carers of the Mater Hospital in the designated clinical areas. This is by way of:
Participating as a member of multidisciplinary teams
Carrying out the responsibilities of the position in a manner consistent with the philosophy, values and mission of Mary Aikenhead Ministries
Ensuring a high level of social work practice is maintained consistent with professional standards as defined by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Committing to ongoing professional development and teaching through research, education and social work students
Participating in strategic planning and quality improvement activities
Participating in meetings of AASW Special Interest Groups and other groups of relevance to the delivery of a high-quality Social Work Service to patients at the Mater
ESSENTIAL REQUREMENTS:
Degree in Social Work
Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
Demonstrate behaviours that reinforce the core values of The Mater
Demonstrated ability to manage a demanding workload and prioritise where necessary
Evidence of the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated commitment to continuing education
Computer literacy
Commitment to quality improvement
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
Demonstrated experience/expertise in acute hospital care
Ability to be flexible and dynamic with work hours
Experience or interest in group work
