What you will be doing:
This is an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker to join our Supportive and Palliative Care Team.The successful candidate will be responsible for the assessment and management of palliative care patients and their carers/families. Additionally, you will be participating in professional activities through relevant professional networks including (but not limited to) Palliative Care Social Work Australia, Palliative Care Australia, the Australian Centre for Grief, and Bereavement and Australian Association of Social Workers special interest group.This opportunity will enable you to provide ongoing education, in-services, and consultation for staff within the Supportive and Palliative Care service, and other staff of NBMLHD, including providing supervision to other Social Workers, and social work students on placement in the LHD. Ultimately you will be participating in quality improvement activities within Supportive and Palliative Care and Cancer Services. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified and must not exceed the duration or conditions associated with the current visa.Selection Criteria to be addressed: * Social Worker eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
  • Demonstrated experience in providing social work services, including psychosocial assessment and intervention, in a palliative care or end of life context; assessment of, and interventions for bereavement; and family assessment and intervention skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clinical services requiring advanced practice skills, and apply professional knowledge and judgement when performing novel, complex or critical tasks.
  • Capacity to exercise independent professional judgement when required in solving problems and managing cases where principles, procedures, techniques, and methods require expansion, adaptation, or modification.
  • High level of written and verbal communication and competence in information technology systems.
  • Demonstrated skills in negotiation, liaison, advocacy, and conflict resolution skills and demonstrated ability to work constructively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in organisational and service planning and policy development, including ability to lead, complete and implement quality improvement initiatives.
  • Current unrestricted drivers’ licence (NSW eligibility) and willingness to use for work purpose travel.
