About the Opportunity:
The level 1/2 Social Work position is temporary part-time (12-months maternity backfill) on the inpatient Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team. The role is rewarding supporting clients and their relatives within the multidisciplinary environment.
This position is a unique opportunity to work with clients and their families directly impacted by Brain Injury (traumatic / acquired).
The role is challenging and focused on family support, discharge planning and a wide range of psychosocial interventions.
What You'll be Doing:
To provide Social Work services to consumers and their carers to ensure the provision of optimal health outcomes consistent with SWSLHD policies and procedures, standards, relevant legislation, and the NSW Health Code of Conduct. The position will also participate in professional development, clinical supervision, quality activities and other relevant departmental and administrative duties.
The position is responsible for providing a comprehensive Social Work service to consumers and relatives within the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit (BIRU) inpatient team. As a clinician the position will provide direct and indirect clinical Social Work service within the specialist multidisciplinary team.
Where You'll Be Working:
  • Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and Brain Injury Rehabilitation.
  • The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
  • Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
  • Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
  • Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.
How to Apply
To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. * A Social Work degree which provides eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
  • Demonstrated experience in a health related field and ability to provide a range of Social Work interventions.
  • Demonstrated experience prioritising work and managing stressful situations.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills (written and verbal) and computer skills.
  • Evidence of commitment to clinical supervision and professional learning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of, and commitment to quality processes, and the application of evidenced based practice within social work.
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge, experience and skills in the field of Brain Injury or other clinically relevant area working with consumers/relatives that have complex needs.
  • Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment.
