Manning Base Hospital has a great opportunity for a Social Worker to provide high quality clinical services and leadership, as part of the multidisciplinary team, for patients and their families/carers in the Lower Mid North Coast Sector of the Hunter New England Local Health District. The position is responsible for the overall Social Work service provision to the Renal services, and other areas of the hospital, as required.
As a successful applicant, you will enjoy working within a multidisciplinary team environment and contribute to the Social Work perspective in the multidisciplinary response, ensuring that patients are supported through the health system and beyond their discharge from the hospital.
We are looking for someone who is committed to improving outcomes for patients, their family/carers as they adjust to the various changes that Kidney diseases brings, and assist patients to maintain quality of life. You will be courageous, resilient and motivated in regards to advocating for the needs of patients and their families through the hospital journey.
You will join a supportive team of Social Workers who works together to provide direct support services to patients, families and carers, and to assist patients and their families/carers with the impact of illness and treatment. You will be supported and encouraged to develop and apply creative strategies and solutions to complex patient presentations. A comprehensive orientation, training, clinical supervision and peer support is available for this role.

The classification for this position is Level 3, however if there are no appropriate Level 3 applicants, applications from Level 1 and 2 Allied Health Professionals will be considered with appointment at the level commensurate with the applicants years of experience. The selection criteria reflect the requirements for a Level 3 applicant. Responses from Level 1 or 2 applicants need to demonstrate their level of competence with regard to the same criteria and their ability to work towards Level 3. The expected performance of the incumbent will be commensurate with their years of experience and current level at commencement of appointment. The incumbent will work towards meeting the criteria for Level 3.
A formal professional development plan will be put in place for level 12 Social Worker who will work towards meeting the criteria for level 3 position including annual performance development review, monthly rounding’s with line manager, formal clinical supervision and relevant training, education and professional networking in nephrology Social Work.
An eligibility list will be created for future permanent full or part time and temporary full or part time vacancies.
Information for Applicants:
All NSW Health workers are required to have completed a primary course of a COVID-19 vaccine which has been approved or recognised by the Therapeutics Goods Administration (TGA). Additionally, Category A workers are required to receive a booster dose three months after completing the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations. New applicants must have completed the vaccination course prior to commencement with NSW Health, or provide an approved medical contraindication certificate (IM011 immunisation medical exemption form) certifying the worker cannot have any approved COVID-19 vaccines available in NSW.
Acceptable proof of vaccination is the Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) Immunisation History Statement or AIR COVID-19 Digital Certificate. Booster doses are highly recommended for all health care workers who have completed the primary course of COVID-19 vaccinations.
