• Employment Part time - Term Contract (temporary up to 30 Jun 2024)

Overview

The Women’s & Children’s Health Network provides state of the art health care for women, babies, children and young people across South Australia.  We are the state’s leading provider of specialist care for children with acute and chronic conditions as well as being SA’s largest maternity and obstetric service. 

Our community-based services also reach hundreds of thousands of babies, children and young people, their families and communities across South Australia through our various services and programs in areas such as our Mental Health, Child & Family Health services, Youth Health and Aboriginal Health services.

The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Metropolitan Youth Health team as a Youth Health Worker (Young Parents) in a Part time (30 hours per week), temporary role up to 30 June 2024.

As the Young Parents Youth Health Worker you will engage with young people, who are pregnant and parenting who are disadvantaged and/or vulnerable.  You will identify, plan, coordinate and evaluate the delivery of projects/programs/groups in accordance with grant funding agreements, that provide a forum for young people to discuss issues relating to their health/pregnancy /parenting and improve their ability to self-manage these issues.  Case management services are delivered and documented in accordance with the Department for Education Flexible Learning Standards for clients attending Talking Realities, and as a result young people are engaging in their health care management, and education. 

Improved service access and outcomes for young people through working in partnership with young people and their families and in collaboration with other health professionals and government and community agencies. 

About You

To be eligible you must have an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which gives eligibility for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers.

To be successful in this role, you will use your advanced interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to foster productive working relationships across disciplines, manage conflict and to contribute positively in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

You should have experience in working with young people and in particular Young Parents from diverse value systems, cultural backgrounds and special needs. Your sound experience in working effectively with, and engaging, Young Parents, both in an individual and group work capacity, is essential in this role.
