About the Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault (ECASA)
ECASA provides free counselling and advocacy services to adults and young people/children in the Eastern Region who have experienced sexual assault recently and in the past. The model of care includes the provision of crisis, and short to medium term counselling, group work, professional consultation and professional and community education programs.
About the role
This rewarding role requires a strong commitment to trauma-informed collaborative practice and an empowerment and victim’s rights-based approach to recovery. ECASA provides a supportive, connected and positive team culture with a well embedded supervision and professional development program. There is an opportunity for counsellors to increase their knowledge and experience in the sexual assault area and workers who are new to the sector are provided additional professional development opportunities.
The role is based at our Ringwood East site, and would be involved in both the intake and counselling teams.
About you
To be successful in this role you should have the following:
- An appropriate tertiary qualification in Social Work
- Understanding of the work that Centres Against Sexual Assault provide and the CASA philosophy
- Familiarity with trauma frameworks and treatment modalities in the area of family violence and sexual assault
- An understanding of the dynamics and impact of sexual assault related to adults and young people/children
- A respectful, compassionate, innovative and reflective approach with a passion for making a difference in the lives of those impacted by sexual assault
- A strong team commitment
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
