My Journey Coach works with people aged 18 and older who experience Mental Health issues or who live with a psychosocial disability.

ABOUT THE POSITION

When you begin your employment with My Journey Coach Ltd, we will facilitate the connection between you and participants who have requested our services. 

Your role will be to collaborate with each participant to determine a suitable schedule for recurring appointments. Typically, these appointments occur once or twice per week.

This flexibility allows you to adjust your workload according to your other commitments and preferences. However, it is important to note that the workload is consistent, and you can expect to have fixed hours of work each week Your engagement with each participant will involve dedicating a specific number of hours per week as agreed upon, considering the funding available in their NDIS plan and their personal preferences. Over time, you will establish a dependable roster of participants whom you will meet with regularly at prearranged times.

To provide you with an understanding of the typical responsibilities involved in this job, here are a few examples of activities that we may engage in while assisting our customers 

- Visiting participants at their homes to enjoy a friendly conversation over a cup of tea and discussing their progress for the week 

- Assisting with various daily living tasks, such as grocery shopping or accompanying them to medical appointments 

- Taking leisurely walks together in nearby parks, allowing them to appreciate nature 

- Aiding with personal administrative tasks, including managing Centrelink matters, bill payments, and housing searches 

- Supporting individuals in gaining confidence in bustling social environments by accompanying them to local shopping centers 

- Encouraging improved physical health by helping them attend gym sessions or engaging in outdoor exercises - Assisting with gardening endeavors to enhance their ability to live independently.

This role includes transportation of participants we support. Are you prepared to use your own motor vehicle to do this? if this is you we encourage you to apply.

My Journey Coach Ltd is a remote organisation with no fixed office location. You will work mostly independently, although your Team Leader will be there to support and guide you, and assist you with any practice related issues that arise.

We pay well above the minimum award rates as we want to attract the highest level of staff possible to support our participants ( Hourly wages plus super, with additional penalty loadings on weekends and public holidays).

Hourly wages -  $40.26 - $43 

Penalty rates apply for shift work on weekend and public holidays. 

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this role, you must have:

Current NDIS Worker check, Police Check, 

Certificate of NDIS Worker Orientation Program.

Experience working with people with Mental health disability and challenging behaviour.

Previous experience in a similar role, preferably within the NDIS framework.

Ability to provide 2 current/recent work-related references.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse clients.

A compassionate, empathetic, and patient approach to supporting individuals with disabilities.

Excellent problem-solving skills, adaptability, and resilience in challenging situations.

• Highly developed interpersonal skills, comfort meeting and engaging new people

• Have the ability to manage your own roster and work independently.

• Are looking to commit to at least 12 months in the role so as to ensure a stable and consistent service for your clients.

• Are looking for a consistent and stable routine where you work at least 20 hours each week.

Please note: Shift will increase gradually.  

• Confident using basic office technology (Microsoft Teams, email etc) and your own phone and computer to use for work purposes (logging shifts, contacting participants etc)

• Access to a car and a current driver's license (you will be required to transport participants in your own vehicle, but you will be reimbursed per kilometre for this)

• Desired but not essential: relevant training/education, such as: A degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field

• Minimum IV Mental health, in individual support, community, social worker or related field.

• Current First Aid (Valid for three years) and CPR (Valid for 12 months). 

•  It is a requirement to have NDIS screening check for this position.
