We are a passionate team of people who aim to support people with disability to live a life of dignity in the way they choose.
The Housing Hub was created in 2017 with a goal to support people with disability to find suitable and quality housing, and to support the efficient operation of the disability housing market. The Housing Hub was created as an initiative of the Summer Foundation and now operates under a social enterprise model.
Thousands of properties across Australia are currently listed on the Housing Hub website, making it easier for housing seekers to find the right home. We’ve created an online community where housing seekers and housing providers work together to develop a market where people with disability enjoy choice and control over where they live and who they live with. We need someone who is willing to provide input, ideas and expertise to continue to grow and drive this website to provide even more value to our clients.
About the role
This role is responsible for all aspects of the back-end development along with implementing DevOps procedures and management of deployments and hosting, ensuring our website continues to evolve and remain number one for accessible housing in Australia.
We need a full-stack developer to enable our team to complete all BAU website development inhouse, whilst encouraging an environment for knowledge sharing and collective responsibility within our small but passionate team.

- Back-end development and testing of all new website features
- Take on front-end coding responsibilities when required, such as during periods of work cover or as part of cross-functional projects
- Maintain accurate documentation of system architecture and associated systems. Update with changes and website extensions
- Implement new/modify existing APIs between the website app and our CRM Salesforce
- Review and debug code and assisting the support team with customer facing enquiries
- Configure Stripe as ecommerce requirements change or new products are introduced
- Integrate new website features into existing platforms including Salesforce, Algolia and Segment
- All back-end deployments including set-up and maintenance of development pipelines
- AWS configuration, containerisation and ongoing server maintenance to ensure optimal system performance and scalability
What experience and skills are we keen for you to have?
- At least three years experience in a Software Engineer role specialising in web backend systems and API development including:
- Custom Salesforce integrations and APIs
- AWS and server maintenance
- React and NodeJS
- Working with and consuming RESTful APIs
- BitBucket and version controlling
- Database administration
- SQL queries
- Experience with Algolia, Segment, Contentful or other Headless Content Management System (CMS) is desirable
- Experience with DevOps, including deployment pipelines and efficiencies, development collaboration, and monitoring system performance
- Base understanding of frontend development skills
- Designing, developing, and maintaining scalable & robust backend systems
- Ability to gain an understanding of the business and provide input into the digital road map, providing valuable insights on possible/best fit solutions and system scale up going forward
- Identify and develop best fit technical solutions and integration points across the site, and rectify any potential issues or discrepancies before deployment
- Gain an understanding and working knowledge of current the system architecture identify possible solutions to streamline and/or improve
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field.
