How will I help?

This Senior Java Developer role involves working for one of the largest banks in Australia and exists to design and develop software solutions, ensuring adherence to relevant standards and processes. The role has strong potential of career growth based on performance.

This position sits within the Business Lending domain which delivers customer servicing and originations technology solutions for the bank's business customer portfolio via both online and staff facing channels.

The technologies used are predominantly Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript using REST/Web services to integrate with the banks enterprise services layer, databases, and host systems. Software development practices within the team are aligning to agile methodologies.

This role will move you into an innovative and growing engineering team where you will be working on a range of business and customer critical projects.

The main role accountabilities and responsibilities will include:

  • Roll out, embed, and improve Standard development practices across the various IT teams.
  • Review code to deliver quality, regulatory compliance, security, and fraud detection.
  • Consistently apply tools, standards, methods, and processes in developing solutions to ensure that quality applications are developed with consistent maintainable code which supports risk and compliance management.
  • Continuously improve our CI/CD pipelines, including decreasing build times, increasing automated tests.
  • Prepare and update high level functional and technical specification documents.
  • Perform the design and development of software solutions according to Group development standards, with the goal of providing reliable, stable, and operationally sound applications that meet business requirements.

What do I need?

You will be experienced and have a deep understanding of Java development. You will be a problem solver and someone that is continually looking to upskill and develop.

To be considered for this role you need the following skills/experience:

  • Strong Core Java skills
  • Minimum 5 years hands-on experience on Java
  • Minimum 3 years hands-on experience on Spring/Spring Boot
  • Great understanding on Java OOPS & entity relationship management
  • Hands-on Experience in Hibernate, Junit, Maven/Gradle, GIT, JIRA
  • General awareness of Java design patterns
  • Minimum 2 Years' experience in any RDBMS.
  • A good understanding of designing Database objects (Table, Index, partitions, constraint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Collaborative team player
  • Knowledge of system development life cycle.
  • Knowledge of applications support and development
  • Ability to work independently or within a team framework
  • Strong time management, workload management and organisational skills
