Description:
 
The Solution Engineer/Designer role bridges data engineering, analytics, platform management, and project delivery.  This provides innovative and strategic leadership in data solutions.
 
This role is responsible for the entire solution design process, from extracting data from source systems, through ingestion and transformation, to creating reusable data assets ready for use.
 
Roles and Responsibilities:
 

• Develop, test, and support advanced data solutions for clients across various industries.
• Design, test, and maintain end-to-end batch and near real-time data flows/pipelines.
• Demonstrate expertise in data architectures, modern Data Platforms, big data, data lakes, data warehousing, ML/AI, analytics, cloud platforms, data governance, and information management technologies.
• Showcase deep understanding of data integration, ingestion design, data transformation techniques, and consumption patterns.
• Develop and showcase Proof of Concepts and Working Demos.

 
Experience Required:
 

• Proven experience in delivering solutions on big Data Platforms.
• Demonstrated experience in delivering data projects within big data and cloud data lake environments.
• Ability to lead and own end-to-end solutions, collaborate with client architects, and support technical delivery teams to troubleshoot issues and provide technical leadership in complex client environments.
• Over 3 years of experience in large and complex financial services organizations, preferably banks.
• Over 7 years of experience in project management and/or delivery of business and technology solutions, involving the design and engineering of complex data processes.
• Over 3 years of experience in advanced data transformation.
• Over 3 years of experience presenting solution designs or architectures in large forums, with the ability to justify and defend solution/design decisions.
• Over 3 years of experience in data quality analysis and remediation.
• Hands-on experience using Unix/Linux servers for over 3 years.
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms and big data analytics using Hadoop and Azure, Python, and Apache Spark (PySpark).
• Excellent verbal communication skills to convey information and ideas effectively, engaging the audience and helping them understand and retain messages.
• Strong written communication skills to clearly articulate and present findings to senior stakeholders and produce deliverables.
• Ability to manage time effectively to meet milestones and deliverables.
• Strong collaborative work practices in an agile, fast-paced team environment.
• A strong work ethic and a willingness to go the extra mile.
• Ability to work in demanding and high-paced environments.

 
Preferred:
 

• Understanding of Data Mesh Architecture and its Domain Data Products.
• Experience in data analysis and data modelling, including Entity Relationship Modelling, Third-Normal Form, and Dimensional Data Modelling.
• Hands-on experience with the Atlassian toolset, including JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket.

 
Education:
 
Tertiary qualifications in Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent data or business experience.
 
Location and Contract Term:

• Sydney
• 6 months with likely extension.

 
Security Requirements: Full working rights & the ability to obtain an Australian police check.
