We are seeking an experienced and skilled South Indian Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of South Indian cuisine and culinary techniques. They will be responsible for preparing authentic South Indian dishes, managing kitchen operations, ensuring food quality and presentation standards, and supervising kitchen staff.
Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and cook a variety of South Indian dishes including dosas, idlis, vadas, sambar, rasam, curries, and chutneys.
2. Create and develop new South Indian recipes while maintaining authenticity and quality.
3. Ensure that all dishes are prepared in accordance with specified recipes, portion sizes, and quality standards.
4. Manage kitchen operations including inventory management, stock ordering, and cost control.
5. Supervise and train kitchen staff in proper food preparation techniques, portion control, and sanitation standards.
6. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including equipment and workstations.
7. Monitor food wastage and implement strategies to minimize waste.
8. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and sanitation standards.
9. Collaborate with the management team to develop menus, special promotions, and culinary events.
10. Stay updated on industry trends and new ingredients to continually improve the menu offerings.
Requirements:
1. Proven experience working as a South Indian Chef or Sous Chef in a reputable restaurant or hotel.
2. In-depth knowledge of South Indian cuisine, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
3. Ability to prepare a wide range of South Indian dishes to high standards.
4. Strong leadership and communication skills.
5. Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
6. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
7. Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
8. Creative flair and passion for South Indian cuisine.
9. Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
10. Ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
