Based in Leeton, you will play a crucial role in driving sustainable rice production by:
- Coordinating the development and implementation of recommended sustainable farming practices in rice production systems. This includes working with growers to adopt practices that minimize emissions and contribute to achieving environmental targets.
- Linking growers in the Northern Riverina with the latest research findings from across the industry on both productive and sustainable farming methods. This involves acting as a Field Extension officer, encouraging growers to adopt and embed best practices into their farming businesses.
- Building strong business advisory relationships with growers by providing personalized recommendations on farming techniques and variety selection, drawing on the expertise and resources of the broader SunRice team. This role acts as a conduit between researchers and growers, ensuring that the rice industry continues to be both productive and sustainable through applying findings and recommendations from research and growing varieties that meet the quality needs of consumers.
