Special Olympics provide weekly sports training, lifestyle programs and competition opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.
Special Olympics South Australia is currently seeking qualified swimming coaches who can provide assistance and support in coaching of athletes with intellectual disability. The swimmers range from learn to swim to squad training and there are opportunities throughout South Australia in various locations. Remuneration for this role can be negotiated depending on experience of the selected candidate.
The ideal candidate will have strong relationship management skills and ability to motivate the swimmers to do their best and progress, where possible, to our competition pathways.

• Great communication skills
• Ability to be flexible and to improvise when needed
• Ability to inspire and motivate others
• Well-developed interpersonal skills
• Understanding of relevant WH&S requirements
• Good time management skills
Experience / Education Required:
• Swimming coach accreditation
• Experience working with athletes with a disability
• Has experience as a competitor and/or coach in swimming (desirable)
• Valid Working with Children Check (or willingness to get one)
Desirable:
• Previous coaching experience
• First Aid / CPR qualifications (or willingness to get one)
• Knowledge of Special Olympics Australia and it's programs
Time requirement:
1 to 2 hours per week for training.
some weekend hours may be required once per month for competitions.
