  • This role is permanent part time at 3 days per week
The purpose of the Community sub function is to understand and minimise adverse social and human rights impacts arising from company activities, develop mutually beneficial relationships with host communities and contribute to their economic and social development, enabling a shared benefit from our presence.Reporting to the Manager Community, you will play a key role in the development, monitoring, management and reporting of social investment projects associated with BHP's Iron Ore and Nickel West portfolios, as well as contribute to community and human rights impact and opportunity assessments and related reporting requirements.Your responsibilities:
  • Life-cycle project management of community-focused social investment partnerships to ensure desired objectives, key performance indicators, governance and reporting requirements are met while identifying opportunities for enhancing and improving partnerships and programs
  • Work closely with the Principal Community - Social Investment and site teams to deliver the Social Investment Plan, engage with community stakeholders and maintain BHP's reputation within communities of interest
  • Contribute to Asset-level social and human rights risk and opportunity assessment processes and provide input into Asset and Functional planning processes
  • Contribute content and case studies for the Annual Report, Sustainability Report and other corporate publications
  • Support the Communications team in marketing and public relations activities for Social Investment programs to both internal and external audiences
  • Understand the political and social climate of the WA communities and regions in which BHP operates
About You
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience in areas of Sustainability, Community and Social Impact and Social Investment, including previous experience in partnership management, Stakeholder engagement, contract development and governance.
  • Understanding of issues management, including human rights, Indigenous Peoples and the concept of social value.
  • Experience with ESG, budget planning, financial and administrative management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, negotiation skills and the ability to work effectively in team.
  • The ability to use initiative, work under minimal supervision and prioritise to meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Well developed written and verbal communication skills.
