About the Role


The main purpose of this role is to provide expertise through the execution of complex Due Diligence (DD) and data analysis, as well as the provision of compliance support.
You will also be expected to contribute to the delivery of the Compliance team’s strategy and key frameworks (including sanctions/export controls, anti-corruption, AML, market conduct, ethical supply chain) required to protect and enhance BHP’s reputation, to manage compliance risk and to contribute to social value creation
.

 

Your accountabilities include:

 

  • Acting as the key interface for undertaking complex DD on third parties in the Marketing, Maritime and Treasury functions; using a variety of sources and drawing linkages between those sources.
  • Providing ad hoc compliance advice in support of the broader Compliance, Marketing, Maritime and Treasury mandates and initiatives.
  • Lead compliance team interface with Global Business Services (GBS) for vessel vetting and tracking; including the determination of when to escalate issues.
  • Drafting reports (including recommendations for mitigating controls) for Compliance and Management on higher risk third parties and transactions.
  • Designing and implementing DD governance/assurance practices and controls to mitigate compliance-related risks. 
  • Sourcing information, planning and conducting analyses to support evidence-based decision making.
  • Reviewing and assessing third party payors and other higher risk third parties.
  • Applying an understanding of the business context, BHP operating model and ways of working to enhance decision making, productivity and value chain performance.
  • Conducting complex DD and information reviews for compliance-related investigations.
  • Tracking and assessing emerging trends and capabilities in data, technology, and DD (including AI-related developments) to drive continuous improvement and efficiency.

 


About You

 

As a successful candidate you will possess the following:

 

  • Clear and concise report writing skills required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a business/economics/legal or related field is preferred.
  • Effective project management and planning skills.
  • Experience undertaking third party DD in a multi-jurisdictional setting.
  • Commercial acumen and knowledge of the value chains of large corporate entities.
  • Experience in a large corporation with a global structure and multiple stakeholders.
  • International experience preferred, but not mandatory.
  • Ability to assess data, follow leads and ask questions and learn about new industry sectors.
  • Strong sense of curiosity and proactiveness.
  • Strategic thinking and critical analysis skills. 
  • Experience in a corporate setting, consulting firm, accounting firm or DD firm preferred.
  • Business level fluency in a second language other than English would be an advantage, but not mandatory.
