Job Description
Join us as a Senior Discipline Engineer: Electrical, where you can play a key role in ensuring appropriate design and construction standards are maintained across the Woodsmith Project, UK.
This position is an 18 month fixed term contract based in Brisbane.
Key Accountabilities include:
- Contribute to the development, planning, monitoring and challenge of the works programmers.
- Challenge, support and assist contractors to ensure that they are successful in delivering their scopes of work.
- Review engineering, procurement, construction planning, access, and logistics for assigned projects to support construction in alignment with target dates.
- Participate in design reviews to validate compliance against agreed technical standards.
- Support engineering design delivery needs to reach objectives in an effective and efficient manner.
- Review and comment on criteria specified in contracts if practical achievable during construction.
- Ensure that specified/selected equipment comply with technical specifications, applicable legislation, approvals and standards, as well as safety and quality requirements.
- Provide updates to the Lead Design Engineer and Design Engineering Manager regarding compliance to project technical compliance.
- Immediately rectify or stop any unsafe work or operations.
- Intervene when personnel are failing to discharge their health and safety responsibilities and encourage good behavior and practice.
- Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent.
- Experience of underground mining operations
- Knowledge of project processes including planning, safe systems of work, quality management.
- Understanding of design process and associated documentation in a multi-disciplinary project environment.
- Ability to compile, analyse and evaluate project deliverables, hours estimates and progress measurement.
- Good all-round technical design expertise using British and international standards, and/or Euro codes.
- Knowledge of HAZID and HAZOP processes and experience of the process and or leading of design reviews.
- Demonstrated experience in the selection/specification of materials in the mining, process, or heavy engineering and/or power industries.
- Good knowledge of health and safety legislation related to best practice.
- A hands-on approach, able to work well under pressure and prioritise workload to meet project needs.
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel in a range of disciplines and contractor organisations.
- Enthusiasm in the working environment and a “can do“ approach in all endeavors.
- Desire to learn and be mentored.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
