The Role

You will deliver technical leadership and expert advice on our extensive dam portfolio, applying your advanced industry knowledge to ensure initiatives tactically and strategically link organisational objectives.  You will be involved in all facets of dam management, including investigation and design, dam safety, decommissioning, and ongoing dam management.  

Some of the things you will be responsible for include: 

  • Provide specialist advice on dam safety trends, significant engineering problems, technical issues, legislative compliance, asset performance and the balancing of customer service levels with dam lifecycle cost and residual operational risk.  
  • Provide advice on and facilitate organisational awareness of dam safety environmental and community risks and impacts.  
  • Develop solutions or innovations which influences organisational direction, reputation, and relationships with key stakeholders.  
  • Manage, lead and direct dam safety programs and projects to ensure successful outcomes. 
  • Analyse and recommend customised engineering solutions with consideration of end-to-end processes to meet the specialised needs of TasWater assets and systems. 
  • Lead the development of dam engineering capability within TasWater through the design of initiatives and mentoring and coaching of employees.  

What we're looking for

To be successful you will need to be a specialist in dam safety, with the confidence to communicating with key stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes of deliverables. 

The key skills we are looking for include: 
 

  • Degree in relevant Engineering discipline 
  • In depth and extensive specialist dam engineering knowledge and experience, exceeding the NRE Class 1 Dam Safety requirements. 
  • Demonstrated practical application of legislation, policies, guidelines, standards and other regulatory instruments. 
  • Role model the TasWater Values and Behaviours while proactively working to develop a positive culture in Sustainable Infrastructure Services

The Details

This role can be based in either Launceston or Devonport and attracts a salary of $134,000 - $170,000 (inclusive of superannuation).
