Job description

Specialist Family Violence Practitioner

  • Part-Time Position (8 EFT Part-time Permanent)
  • $37.54 - $44.68 per hour + Superannuation & NFP Salary Packaging
  • South East Melbourne
  • Rainbow Tick Accredited organisation

About the Role:

VincentCare Victoria is seeking an appropriately qualified practitioner to provide intensive case management, advocacy and referral, brief engagement and intervention and accommodation and support to victim-survivors.

You will be based in our Olive's Place Specialist Family Violence program, which provides support and accommodation to adult and child victim-survivors who have fled their homes due to Family Violence. The program aims to support and empower victim-survivors to rebuild confidence and self-esteem, establish a life without violence and achieve a maximum level of self-reliance and independence.

The role is responsible for promoting and delivering person-centred approaches that preserve and respect the diversity and autonomy of our clients. This requires you to have an in-depth understanding of the gendered nature of Family Violence, intersectionality in Family Violence, and the nature, dynamics and impact of Family Violence across a broad range of familial relationships.

In this dynamic and supportive space, you will work on:

  • Providing high quality risk assessment and risk management to support victim survivors;
  • Participating and assisting facilitating Olive's Place activities that support victim-survivors to build connections and strengthen social and emotional well-being
  • Actively work toward surpassing client expectation through honest, transparency, communication and a commitment to quality service delivery;
  • And plenty of other interesting initiatives...

About Us:

VincentCare Victoria is an award-winning organisation established to provide a range of accommodation and support services to people that are facing disadvantage throughout Victoria. Our aspiration is to provide care, hope and advocacy for those facing disadvantage through our provision of services that effectively meet the needs of people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Our purpose is to create opportunities and lasting change for the most marginalised and disadvantaged in our community, aiming always to support, empower and to respect a client's dignity.

About you:

You are a qualified professional with experience in providing comprehensive case management, planning and support to assist clients within a Family Violence setting. You understand partnership initiatives and deliverables and have an ability to work alongside other stakeholders.

You have experience in maintaining constructive, empathetic, supportive and respectful working relationships particularly for an integrated service response.

Your experience and knowledge also extend to:

  • Effectively engaging with people experiencing complex issues;
  • An ability to manage critical incidents, identify and act upon immediate risks in both outreach and service-based capacities;
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills;
  • Experience in liaising with other community service organisations for the development of on-going relationships and referral protocols beneficial to client support.

Why work for us?  We offer:

  • An opportunity to contribute to an award-winning organisation at the cutting edge of LGBTIQ inclusive practice and culturally safety.
  • We provide a positive, culturally safe and affirming working environment.
  • We are committed to professional development to ensure your career keeps advancing while you're working with us.
  • We offer a place where you know you are contributing to an organisation committed to helping others. We are passionate about #Social Justice.
  • We have some great talent who are happy to share their experience and skills to help you on your way.
  • Salary packaging, sometimes called salary sacrificing is a huge attraction here! It is a popular way of providing employees in the community sector with tax benefits over and above their salary. It means the real value of a salary package can be significantly higher than the nominal value.
