What You Will Be Doing

The Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) Facilitator (female role) provides specialists Family Violence services that utilize strength-based and trauma-informed approaches to support behavioral change for people who use violence (PUV). This service is designed to support PUV to take responsibility for and stop their use of violence through individual interventions, group work and case management. The role works with PUV to enhance the safety of women, children and other family members. The role includes client engagement, risk assessment and safety planning, men’s behavior change group work and case management. Some evening work is a requirement for this position.
The role reports operationally to the Team Leader of Family Violence and is supported clinically by the Senior Clinician. The role sits within the Family Violence Service
in the MBCP and alongside the Keeping Families Safe Program (KFS), whilst working in partnership with The Orange Door, Alexis Taskforce and Changing Ways project

Overview of the Program and Service
The Specialist Family Violence role sits within the Men’s Behaviour Change Program (MBCP) as a part of Peninsula Health’s Family Violence Service (FVS) which is located within Community Health. The Family Violence Service runs behaviour change groups (MBCP) for men who have used violent, abusive and/or controlling behaviours within the family and want to stop using these behaviours. The safety of women and children is a priority. As well as the men’s behaviour change program (MBCP), the Family Violence Service also provides the ‘Keeping Families Safe’ program, for adolescents who are violent in the home. The programs are research and evidence based and focus on assisting men to take responsibility for their behaviours, as well as the impact that these behaviours have on their families, most often their partners and children.
The MBCP Program is funded to assist clients within the Bayside Peninsula Catchment area who are voluntarily seeking support to stop using violent behaviour in their family relationships. The FVS works in collaboration with other agencies in the Bayside Peninsula as part of the Victorian State-wide Integrated Response to Family Violence. The MBCP operates in accordance with Standards set by Family Safety Victoria and No To Violence guidelines for men’s behaviour change work

What You Need

We anticipate you will have:
• A relevant graduate qualification in Social Work or related social sciences (in accordance with Rec 209).
• Social Workers must be eligible for membership of the AASW with demonstrated positive outcomes in supervision and consultation.
• Demonstrated skills and experience in group work facilitation and case management.
• Well-developed understanding of the impacts of Family Violence for family members and the broader community.
• Demonstrable skills in working with complex clients including de-escalation, self-management and reflective practice.
• Demonstrated clinical experience working with multidisciplinary teams to provide a high level of performance and innovation.
• Demonstrated ability to undertake comprehensive intake assessments.
