How You’ll Make a Difference

Sunrise Health Service is looking for multiple full-timeSpecialist Nurses (Maternal and Child Health) to join the team based in Katherine, NT, working throughout the Big Rivers region.

This pivotal role, reporting to the Child and Family Health Coordinator, involves delivering and implementing the Maternal and Early Childhood Sustained Home Visiting program (MECSH) and supporting families within the communities served by Sunrise Health.

  • Promoting positive parent-infant interactions and delivering a structured child development and parent education program
  • Encouraging parents to be future-orientated and increase their capacity to parent effectively
  • Supporting families to improve problem-solving skills and access community resources
  • Practicing trauma-informed care and maintaining cultural safety and awareness
What You’ll Bring to the Team

To be considered for either position, you must hold valid AHPRA registration as a General Nurse, Registered Nurse, Nurse/Midwife and/or Child Health Nurse.

Other requirements include:

  • Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Unrestricted driver’s license with (ideally) the ability to operate a manual vehicle

  • Current OCHRE clearance or willingness to obtain
  • Acceptable vaccination status to work with vulnerable people in the NT
  • Experience working in an Aboriginal health context (not essential)
  • Satisfactory criminal history check

Critical to your continued success with Sunrise will be a respect and understanding of Aboriginal cultural imperatives and how the culture interacts with the medical system more broadly. Candidates who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander are encouraged to apply.

Be Rewarded

In addition to an attractive salary package ranging from approximately up to $118,000 p.a. (commensurate with skills and experience), the successful candidate will receive a host of additional benefits, including:
