Golding currently seeks an experienced Specialist Safety, Health and Environmental Advisor (Ops Support) reporting to the SHE Manager - Mining. The role will have a blend of tactical and strategic activities and play a pivotal part in standardisation of systems and processes, perform assurance activities and support the roll out of strategic initiatives.
This is a Brisbane or Rockhampton based role and requires frequent travel to operating sites across the east coast and SA, and to assist with mobilisation of new operations. At times the role will need to provide SHET coverage for sites as required, and the successful candidate will need to be able to travel at short notice, within reason.
The successful incumbent will have the ability to build and maintain sound business relationships, lead by example, implement and support Golding's innovative safety systems within a dynamic and challenging environment.
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following abilities:
- Facilitate and develop risk assessments in alignment with the project’s schedule of works.
- Have a comprehensive and working knowledge of the Qld Coal and other mining legislative frameworks and Recognised Standards.
- Facilitate and support site assurance and audit activities inclusive of site and contractor's health and safety management systems;
- Develop and assist with maintaining project SHE Training Management Plans, Skills Matrix and training schedules;
- Provide advice to project leaders on the implementation and application of the authorised SHE Training Plans for the project;
- Assist with the audit preparation and reporting for Training, Competency and Behaviour
- Conducting training needs analysis scoping and preparing training plans in consultation with key stakeholders
- Ensuring contractors on site are qualified, licenced and complete all necessary inductions
- Managing the Training Management System (TMS) ensuring training records are entered, maintained and reported;
- Generate comprehensive analysis of operational training requirements and collaborate with other training personnel to establish training calendars, training programs, completion of VOCs/COC’s, and offering training support to other areas of the business;
- Facilitate and/or lead significant investigations where required.
- Experience in assisting with contract tenders and project mobilisation.
- High level organisational skills with ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines.
Mandatory capability requirements:
- Degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience within the mining industry with proven exposure to safety, health, environment and training systems application and compliance.
- Ability to understand and apply relevant legislation.
- A clear understanding of risk management principles.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate and develop risk assessments.
- Candidates with current G3 and G7 qualifications will be highly regarded.
- Experience in SHE auditing, incident reporting and incident investigation.
