Role Overview:
As WHS Risk & Wellness Specialist, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing a comprehensive Synod wellbeing program. Your expertise will guide the creation of initiatives focused on education, support, and guidance, promoting a positive and proactive approach to Workplace Health, safety, and overall wellness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the coordination of Workers Compensation, Rehabilitation, the Safety and Accident Prevention Program (SAAPP), and other wellness initiatives, ensuring compliance and best practices.
- Conduct WHS risk assessments, identifying and implementing risk improvement strategies to enhance safety standards across the Synod.
- Drive Synod wide Wellness Strategy and targeted programs that will help to reduce risk in relation to staff and ministry agent’s wellness and shape behavioural change
- Monitor and promote positive safety performance indictors and build individual capabilities to encourage and motivate business leaders to actively maintain safe work environments and safe people.
- Identify trends and issues impacting Health & Safety and provide operational guidance, technical expertise and support to address issues with relevant stakeholders.
- Facilitate effective communication and consultation on safety and wellness matters, ensuring a collaborative approach to health and safety issues.
- Champion the development of a positive safety culture, encouraging proactive risk awareness and management throughout the organisation.

About You:
- You possess a deep understanding of WHS regulations and have a proven track record of implementing successful health and safety programs.
- You have studied Tertiary qualifications in Workplace Health & Safety or related discipline, and are or have the ability to obtain accreditation as a Workplace Health & Safety Officer
- Your analytical skills enable you to effectively identify risks and develop strategic solutions to mitigate them.
- Excellent communication skills are one of your strengths, capable of engaging with diverse stakeholders and fostering a culture of safety and awareness.
- You are motivated by a desire to contribute to a safe, healthy, and supportive workplace, demonstrating a commitment to the well-being of others.
