About the role:

The Asset Management team is currently seeking a Specialist Engineer - Track & Civil to join them on a 4:3 FIFO Roster to Port Hedland. Reporting to the Superintendent Reliability Engineering Rail, you will be responsible for providing technical rail infrastructure expertise and advice to the Track Maintenance team in relation to operation, maintenance and repair of railway infrastructure.

A key requirement is the ability to analyse data and identify infrastructure trends, defects or problems in a timely manner. This role requires a high level of integrity to ensure the railway track asset is maintained in accordance with the safety, reliability, environmental standards and statutory requirements and is safe for passage the of rail traffic.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor performance of key track assets including, turnouts, ballast, formation, bridges, and drainage structures;
• Lead investigations into engineering failures and conduct reliability reviews;
• Providing technical input and support with rail infrastructure failures and rectification requirements;
• Generate and/or review work scopes and methodologies;
• Ensure effective and sustainable engineering solutions are identified and actioned, addressing reliability issues to improve asset health for our critical infrastructure;
• Work closely with vendors, OEMs and stakeholders to ensure compliance with technical standards and specifications, including qualitative reviews of execution activities;
• Implement business capability improvements while ensuring associated risks are managed for Rail;
• Understand network requirements, review strategies, budget estimates and provide in depth support to the Track Maintenance teams.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor of Civil Engineering.
• Substantial years (7+years) of related experience with track, ideally in the rail freight or heavy haul industry.
• Thorough practical understanding of rail reliability analysis and asset management techniques.
• Detailed understanding of rail condition monitoring techniques and systems.
