Your new role 

Your new role will report directly to the Team Leader and work within a multidisciplinary allied health team. Your duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Work with staff and service partners to develop, facilitate, monitor, and evaluate learning content within therapeutic program delivery to ensure accessibility and responsiveness to the individual needs of young people in Youth Detention.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to provide high-quality Positive Behaviour Support services, including the evaluation of communication needs and supporting Detention Youth Workers to implement strategies.
• Contribute to the clinical and professional development of Provisional Staff through knowledge building, task demonstration, modelling of communication techniques, or administrative task support.
• Undertake complex and varied professional and clinical tasks that are evidence-based and responsive to the various policies, procedures, and security considerations within the Youth Detention Centre context.
• Work directly with young people to undertake comprehensive assessment of oral language and literacy skills to support their wellbeing and rehabilitation. Develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive individualised interventions of significant scope and complexity for young people within Youth Detention.

What you'll need to succeed 

• Registration with Speech Pathology Australia as a Certified Practising Speech Pathologist
• Possession of post-graduate qualifications, significant experience, and or participation in relevant training programs is highly regarded.
• Australian Citizenship, permanent residency or visa permitting you to work in Australia
• Blue Card
