An opportunity Speech Pathologists to join a multidisciplinary team in our specialist cancer treatment centre.
Purpose of Position:
The position is required to assess and manage oncology patients, with a specialisation in Head and Neck cancer who are experiencing communication, swallowing and feeding difficulties. In addition review of any private patients requiring speech pathology assessment and working in collaboration with external contracted providers across the services of the hospital . Specifically as a sole clinician in this role, the position is responsible for planning, managing and evaluating Speech Pathology services to patients and reports to the Allied Health Team Leader, and the Director of Nursing.
The position will require the applicant to;
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, allied health professional and integrative medicine practitioners, with the aim of providing benchmarked speech pathology interventions.
- Provide appropriate consultation and intervention for patients experiencing communication, swallowing and feeding difficulties in the context of their treatment or diagnosis.
- Provision of appropriate documentation and steps taken to obtain a Medicare provider number to provide outpatient services.
Selection Criteria
- Bachelor or Post‐Graduate Degree in Speech Pathology (or equivalent), and eligible for practising SPA membership.
- Extensive experience working with oncology patients with communication, swallowing and feeding difficulties using range of service delivery models.
- Specific skills and abilities in delivery and management of patients using instrumental assessment.
- Ability and willingness to engage in Multi‐disciplinary teams, and develop collaborative working relationships.
- High level communication and time management skills to work effectively across organisations, in a large department, multidisciplinary team and independently.
- Demonstrated experience in the planning, implementation and evaluation of clinical practice and service delivery incorporating relevant evidence and the quality improvement process.
- Demonstrated experience supervising and training staff and/or students.
