About the facility
The Barwon Health Speech Pathology service provides Acute Care (University Hospital Geelong), Rehabilitation and Subacute Care (McKellar Centre) and Community and Mental Health services in the Barwon South West Region. Speech Pathologists employed within Barwon Health work in wide range of clinical areas and contexts to provide assessment, management and support to clients with swallowing and communication disorders. Speech Pathology staff are supported in their professional practice by attendance at professional development opportunities, regular review of evidence based practice, professional supervision and access to training and competency packages
About the role
The Grade 1 Speech Pathologist (rotational) - will provide and maintain high quality speech pathology services in their rotational setting across Acute inpatients and outpatients, Sub acute and Community Rehabilitation.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Providing assessment, diagnosis and management of patients with disorders of swallowing and communication across settings
- Implementation of appropriate clinical management and rehabilitation programs based on diagnostic and prognostic indicators and technical knowledge.
- To counsel clients, family and significant others on the nature of, and coping with communication and swallow disorders.
- Participate in our Videofluoroscopy Training Program at our University Hospital Geelong Campus.
