Job description

Queensland Cricket is currently seeking to appoint a Sports Performance Dietitian to maximise performance through nutrition by providing practical strategies, guidelines and policies as well as support to athletes and staff regarding the strategic timing of food and fluids.

About the role

Reporting to the Head of Elite Physical Performance Manager, we have an exciting opportunity for a Accredited Sports Dietitian to join our team on a part-time seasonal basis.

Please note this role will be engaged on an independent contractor basis. Hours are part-time during the season and may include some afterhours and weekend work.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide performance focused, nutrition plans aligned with players individual performance plans
  • Development of injury nutrition protocols
  • Development of hydration monitoring and feedback systems
  • Anthropometric testing
  • Implement an evidence-based supplement program informed by the Cricket Australia Supplement Policy
  • Body composition manipulation in accordance with objectives discussed with key staff
  • Integration of other strategies appropriate to climate/environment (e.g. pre-cooling methods)

About you

The successful applicant must have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Bachelor of Human Nutrition (or similar discipline)
  • Accredited Practicing Dietitian status with Dietitians Association of Australia
  • Accredited Member of Sports Dietitians Australia
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with elite athletes or in a high-performance environment
  • Level 1 ISAK Accreditation
  • Current Queensland Working with Children Check
  • Passion for sports nutrition and working with elite athletes to help them improve their performance, whilst minimising the risk of injury and long-term health issues
  • A proven track record of working successfully as part of a multi-disciplinary support crew
