About the Role 

Versent has a great opportunity for a SQL Database Administrator to join our Versent Modern Practice immediately.

The ideal candidate should possess a robust proficiency in SQL database administration, with a primary emphasis on ensuring the stability, security, and optimization for our client databases.

As a SQL DBA, you will be responsible for providing exceptional operational support, maintaining database performance, and proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.

You'll have a deep understanding of SQL technologies, excellent problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to delivering outstanding service to our clients.

On a day to day, you'll be doing 

• Manage and maintain SQL database environments in collaboration with key customer stakeholders and team members. 
• Perform regular database maintenance tasks such as monitoring, tuning, and optimization. 
• Implement and enforce database security best practices to ensure data integrity and confidentiality. 
• Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, incidents, and outages in a timely manner. 
• Implement automation strategies to streamline database management processes and improve efficiency. 
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for database management and security. 

Skills requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. 
• Proven experience in managing SQL database environments, including undertaking upgrades, implementing solutions, and providing support in a managed services context. 
• Strong expertise in SQL Server management, database administration, performance tuning, and troubleshooting. 
• Experience with database backup and recovery strategies, high availability solutions, and disaster recovery planning. 
• Proficiency in relevant scripting languages and database management tools 
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. 
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. 
• Experience working within an ITIL Service Management framework 
• Relevant certifications in SQL Server administration (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, Microsoft Certified: SQL Database Administrator Associate or AWS)
