Government recruitment specialist Osborne Richardson, are proud to bring a Database Administrator contract role to market, based in Sydney working for a local Government department and looking for an immediate start.
The role:
- Managing Council’s Database platforms both on-premise and cloud environments (including, SQL, Postgresql. Oracle, Azure SQL database and data services, AWS RDS)
- Work closely with the Business System Analysts to ensure all databases and associated systems are running optimally
- Installing, upgrading & configuring MS SQL server and related tools
- Applying database service packs/security patches
- Backup and recovery of databases
- Implement and enforce database security
- Perform monitoring, troubleshooting & ongoing performance tuning of databases
- Development of SQL scripts & stored procedures
- Providing technical support to IT team and key stakeholders.
- Controlling deployment of database changes & transferring of data between systems
Essential qualifications
• Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Science or equivalent qualification.
Essential Experience
- Minimum 3+ years hands-on database administration experience of Oracle (11g and 12c) and SQL Server 2008 onwards database management
- SQL coding
- Experience with SQL Server versions 2008 R2 / 2012 and above
- Experience in configuration, monitoring and administration with SQL Server
- Performance tuning skills
Desirable Qualifications
• DBA certification – SQL Server, Azure related certifications
Desirable Experience
- Disaster recovery - Log shipping
- Experience in High Availability – Failover Clustering / AlwaysOn Availability Groups
- Exposure to Cloud technology in terms of database management is beneficial.
