Job description

As a member of the GE Aviation Systems Digital Technology team, the Staff Analytics Engineer is responsible for developing reporting dashboards and robust data framework across Aviation System enabling strong foundation to support business KPIs and D&A. The individual is responsible for managing business critical data engineering processes, data architecture solutions and maintaining metadata data structures to enable analytical and reporting solutions, besides providing necessary support for post-deployment related activities
This position will work on multiple Data & Information projects as a developer with various teams and functions in Aviation Systems, including Supply Chain, Engineering, Sales & Commercial, Product Management, Services, and others.

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role you will:

  • Gather and understand requirements, create the appropriate design, implementation, test, and deployment strategies, and provide sustenance support as necessary.

  • Develop BI/BA Applications utilizing advanced data visualization techniques. Responsible for designing and implementing Business Intelligence reporting with experience in semantic design.

  • Critically review and analyze current standards, processes, tools & metrics to recommend and implement changes leading to best practices for program execution.

  • Orchestrate a variety of stakeholders to achieve a shared vision of product goals and priorities.

  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical solution is a critical skill for the position.

  • Develops peer, cross-functional and cross-GE business relationships to maximize best practice sharing and team effectiveness.

  • Assess requirements for completeness and accuracy and work with requirement providers to close issues and gaps.

  • Drive adoption of the data & analytics solutions through close alignment with key functional business partners.

  • Ensure focus and prioritization on the critical and impactful analytics that can drive consistency across Aviation Systems sites. Prioritize needs according to the understanding and validation of customer needs and associated outcomes.

  • Conduct regular genba walks of the processes, transactions and sites that can or do benefit from data & analytics capabilities, to better understand the business processes, gaps, and pain points. Leverage the learnings to define/refine the data strategy.

  • Manage stakeholder communication and progress reporting at various levels of the organization.

  • Daily maintenance support of dashboards

Education Qualification

  • 4+ years’ experience in Data Management and/or Business Intelligence, including developing visualizations in BI tools (PowerBI/ Qlik/Spotfire/Tableau/Tableau Prep/Alteryx)

Desired Characteristics

  • Ability to implement business logic with advanced analytic calculations and multiple sources

  • Extensive SQL/PL/SQL skills and knowledge in Oracle and Postgres SQL querying

  • Expert understanding of multiple modern BI software & visualization tools

  • Good aesthetic skills and ability to propose visualizations based on requirements

  • Thorough understanding of data normalization & data modelling concepts

  • Excellent written and verbal communications, effective interpersonal skills, and strong presentation abilities

  • Strong, demonstrated commitment to customer satisfaction

  • Familiar with or have practiced Agile Development

  • Proven analytical and problem resolution skills

Business Acumen:

  • Influence team members on their decisions.

  • Drives design and implementation of the roadmap.

  • Design and develop complex analytics in multiple languages.

  • Developing reusable code libraries that can be deployed in adjacent algorithms.

  • Hands-on experience with business PoCs that can scale into pilots across business units.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and deliverables with extremely high quality

  • Proven experience working in environments with on-shore and off-shore team members

  • Articulates the value proposition of existing technology capabilities and maps them to customer requirements to minimize incremental cost of development

  • Ability to translate business requirements into IT solutions and technical issues into business terms

  • Strong team player – collaborates well with others to solve problems and actively incorporates input from various stakeholders

  • Demonstrated customer focus – evaluates decisions through the eyes of the customer, builds strong customer relationships, creates processes with customer viewpoint and partners with customers to help shape their future initiatives

  • Strong analytical and strong problem-solving skills - communicates in a clear and succinct manner and effectively evaluates information / data to make decisions
